Art Instruction Classes

Art classes are a great way to try something new. This is your opportunity to take that painting class that you’ve always wanted. The classes do not require any previous experience, although students of all levels will learn something. Sign up now. Contact me if you need more information.

"Drawing and Sketching"
Depending on demand, this class may not be offered every year. This is a 6-week course providing basic instruction in drawing and sketching. You will work in pencil. Emphasis will be on drawing what you see, using the right side of your brain, not what you might think you see. No previous experience is necessary. The course is excellent preparation for the Watercolor Painting course. For the first session bring a #2 pencil, a sketch pad and a board to support the pad.

"Watercolor Painting"
This is an 8-week introductory course. Starting with the basics I will teach you how to paint in watercolor. Each lesson has a definite goal. All students work together on a given project, and at the end of each 3-hour lesson, you should have a painting completed. Although this is an introductory course experienced painters will also learn a great deal.

We will start painting at the first class session. We will work on an easy project. I will explain the procedures, and work along with you demonstrating the techniques and colors that you should use. When we all finish the painting project we can also use some time to discuss necessary materials that you will need.

"Intermediate Watercolor"

Available in Arizona classes . This is an 8-week course for students who have at least some experience in watercolor. ( To facilitate scheduling for students arriving in February, the course is split into two 4-week sections, but "Intermediate Watercolor 2" is a direct continuation of "Intermediate Watercolor 1".) This is a 3-hour class, and the teaching procedure is the same as that used for "Watercolor Painting". The painting projects begin with the first class session.

Classes being offered Fall 2018 and Winter 2019, with locations, dates and class times, are listed below:
